FMCG and consumer goods transport in Kenya
FleetGrid Africa moves packaged, palletised and boxed goods for manufacturers, distributors and retailers — from factories and ports to warehouses, distributors and retail outlets across Kenya and East Africa.
What FMCG transport involves in Kenya
Fast-moving consumer goods live on availability. A distributor who cannot restock loses the shelf space, and a retailer who receives damaged stock sends it back. That makes FMCG transport a discipline of protection and punctuality: the goods must arrive intact, inside the delivery window, with paperwork the receiving warehouse can accept first time.
FleetGrid Africa moves packaged, palletised and boxed consumer goods as full-load movements from a single loading point to a single destination. We collect from factories, production plants and the port of Mombasa, and deliver to warehouses, distribution centres, distributors and retail outlets within Kenya and across East Africa.
We stay accountable for the movement from loading to delivery, with one operations team to call from booking to the signed delivery note.
- Packaged, palletised and boxed consumer goods
- Full-load movements from factories, plants and the port of Mombasa
- Delivery to warehouses, distribution centres, distributors and retail outlets
- Movements within Kenya and across East Africa
Secure, covered transport and damage prevention
Consumer goods are high-value and pilferage-prone, so the vehicle matters. We plan covered or closed body vehicles for FMCG movements, so the cargo travels out of sight and out of the weather. Loading is supervised against the dispatch documentation, and the vehicle is sealed or secured where the customer requires it.
Damage prevention starts at loading: pallets stacked within the vehicle's limits, loads restrained so they cannot shift on Kenyan roads, and offloading method confirmed with the receiving site in advance. A consignment that arrives with crushed cartons or shifted pallets costs far more than the care that prevents it.
Delivery windows and receiving-site discipline
Warehouses and retail distribution centres work to booked receiving slots, and a truck that misses its window can wait hours or be turned away. We plan departure and transit around the receiving window at destination, confirm the booking reference the site expects, and brief the driver on the site's access and offloading procedure before dispatch.
Where your distribution runs from a factory or port to several warehouses or distributor points, we plan each movement against its own window so your receiving teams can plan labour and space with confidence.
- Departure and transit planned around booked receiving windows
- Driver briefed on site access, booking references and offloading procedure
- Receiving sites able to plan labour and space against confirmed arrivals
Status updates and delivery documentation
Every truck is fitted with a tracking device. Our operations team monitors shipments and can share status and location updates with you on request; customers do not have self-service tracking. If a movement is running against its window, we can tell you where it is and what the recovery plan is when you contact us.
On completion we return the delivery documentation your finance and warehouse teams need: signed delivery notes confirming what was received, in what condition, so reconciliation and any claims are straightforward rather than a phone-call exercise weeks later.

Common questions about FMCG transport
Are your trucks insured?
Yes. Every truck we use, whether our own or a vetted partner's, is insured and fitted with a tracking device. Cargo insurance for your goods is arranged separately from transport — if you need cover, we can introduce you to an IRA-licensed insurance broker.
Can I get updates on my shipment?
Yes. Every truck is fitted with a tracking device. Our operations team monitors shipments and can share status and location updates on request. Contact us with your shipment details and we will confirm where your cargo is.
Do you own the trucks?
Yes. FleetGrid owns and operates cargo trucks and brings in vetted transport partners when a job needs extra capacity. Every truck used on our work meets the same insurance, tracking and roadworthiness requirements.
Can you help us insure our cargo?
Cargo insurance is arranged separately from transport. If you need cover for your cargo, we can introduce you to an IRA-licensed insurance broker. You buy the policy directly from them. Contact us and we will point you in the right direction.
How do you prevent damage to packaged goods?
We plan covered or closed vehicles, supervise loading against the dispatch documentation, keep stacking within limits and restrain loads so they cannot shift in transit. Offloading method is confirmed with the receiving site before dispatch.
Can you deliver to retail distribution centres with booked slots?
Yes. We plan departure and transit around the receiving window, confirm the booking reference the site expects and brief the driver on the site's access and offloading procedure.
Do you offer multi-drop deliveries?
Our standard FMCG service is full-load movements from a single loading point to a single destination. Tell us your distribution pattern and we will confirm what we can plan for it.
How is pricing determined?
Rates depend on the goods, volume, distance, loading and offloading arrangements, and whether the lane is a one-off or a recurring programme. We quote each brief individually rather than publishing generic rate cards.
